Fees and Insurance

Self pay:

Fees are $275 for initial diagnostic interviews and $225 for follow-up 50-minute psychotherapy sessions. A sliding scale is available on a case by case basis, based on genuine financial need.

Payment for those using self-pay or PPO plans is due at the beginning of each session. Cash, check, and credit card are accepted. Please note that it is my policy to maintain a credit card on file.

If you do not have insurance coverage, or have coverage but do not plan to seek reimbursement through your insurer, please review the Good Faith Estimate for services.

Insurance:

In-Network:

I am an in-network provider for Medicare Part B and will submit claims on your behalf. Please bring your insurance card and your supplemental insurance card to your first appointment.

Please note that I am not credentialed for Medi-Medi (Medicare + MediCal), MediCal (CenCal), or Medicare Advantage plans.

Out-of-Network

If you have a PPO plan, services may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement as part of "out-of-network" benefits. In this case, clients pay for the full session fee at each session and then submit an invoice to their insurance company for reimbursement following the session.

To help facilitate out-of-network claims, I am happy to provide you with an invoice, sometimes called a ‘superbill’, which includes all of the necessary information to submit the claim to your insurance company.

Considerations for Out-of-Network Services:

If you are considering using your insurance benefits, I recommend contacting your insurance company prior to beginning therapy. Specifically, you may wish to inquire about:

• Benefits associated with Psychotherapy or Health and Behavior codes

• Coverage for out-of-network providers

• Deductible for out-of-network providers

• Any limitations on number of visits covered per calendar year

Preparing for your First Appointment

New clients will be asked to complete several pieces of information prior to scheduling their first appointment. To ensure that your information can be maintained confidentially and in accordance with HIPAA regulations, these forms will be sent to you via a secure client portal. You will also receive information regarding office practices, our notice of privacy practices, and requests to allow communication between Santa Barbara Health Psychology and your medical team.
